Strickland Construction History

After leaving the United States Air Force, Rogers Strickland was ready for a second career. He turned to the industry he had known his whole life: construction. Rogers founded Strickland Construction Company, Inc. in 1980 in Raytown, Missouri.

Using his experience and knowledge of the industry—he had worked at his father’s construction business starting at 8 years old—Strickland Construction was formed primarily to build metal farm buildings, but the company soon expanded into commercial and industrial building construction.

An important principle put us on the map in the 1980s: a commitment to creative solutions for our clients that are affordable and functional. We owe our continued growth and more than 30 years of success to that same value. Always trying to find the best, most cost-effective and efficient way of working has made us an industry leader in value engineering and design-build. We are also dedicated to building in a way that is affordable and energy efficient for our clients.

When the company was founded, our team consisted of just 5 individuals. Today we have nearly 50 employees, some of whom have been with us for more than 28 years. We moved from Raytown to Overland Park and then our present-day Olathe location in 1999. Ownership of the company is shared by Rogers Strickland and Eric Hughes.

In 2002, we were named the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce Small Business of the Year. We have sold more than $50 million worth of Butler Manufacturing product since 1980. We are also proud of our compassionate and active role in helping those less fortunate in Kansas City and around the world.

From the beginning, Strickland Construction has worked with Butler Manufacturing, the world’s premier manufacturer of pre-engineered building systems. As an authorized Butler Builder, Strickland Construction provides the highest quality of pre-engineered building systems available today. In fact, Strickland Construction is a Career Butler Builder, a standing only a small number of Butler Builders hold in the United States.

Butler Manufacturing has consistently led the industry in product development, giving us an important competitive edge and the confidence to stand by our construction long term. We are also constantly assessing the changing marketplace in order to serve our customers the best we can.

As Strickland Construction grows and plans for the future, we continue to be guided by our commitment to creative solutions, quality building and unparalleled customer service. We are a results-oriented company that delivers what is promised. When it is important that your project is done right, on time and at a price you can afford, call Strickland Construction.
